EXMOOR Search and Rescue Team is calling for more volunteers to help its vital work searching for missing people.

Membership currently fluctuates from the high-twenties to the midthirties but ESRT says its job would be easier if it had around 40 on the team.

Jen Mason, deputy team leader, said: “We would like to hear from any potential team members and supporters.

"We have running costs to maintain, such as replacing vehicles and medical equipment and we welcome any donations from the public that will help us in our work.”

She added: “People don’t realise that we don’t just rescue walkers from the moors – over half of our jobs are assisting the police in finding missing people.”

Jen confirmed there are no long-term concerns over the group’s viability. If you are between 18 and 70 and interested in getting involved email membership@exmoor-srt.org.uk
