A GROUP of 13 runners raised a total of £24,000 for Bishop's Hull-based St Margaret's Hospice by completing the London Marathon last month.

There were a few tired legs the day after Mike Davis, Mark Llewellyn, Amy Muxworthy, Clive Wakely, Matt Woodford, Nina Taylor, Nathan Warren, Leanne Rolls, Colin Webber, Nick Smith, Emma Flexon, Jane Brookhouse and Robert Perry pounded round the 26-mile course.

St Margaret’s events project lead Sonia Bateman said: “We’d like to thank them for their hard work, dedication and commitment, both training for the event and through their fundraising.

"The £24,000 they have raised is incredible and it goes to show 13 isn’t always unlucky.”

It costs £10million a year to provide all of St. Margaret’s services across Somerset and they are reliant on the generosity of the public to make up the majority of this cost.

Anyone who takes part in an event while raising money, really does make a difference to the 3,200 people St. Margaret’s supports each year.
