SIR Elton John looks set to be confirmed as a Pyramid Stage performer at Glastonbury 2023 after some cryptic social media activity from accounts linked to the festival.

The official BBC at Glastonbury account (@bbcglasto) has shared a picture of a rocket flying over Worthy Farm on its Instagram story.

The shot of the rocket flying over the Pyramid Stage frame also appears in the 'best shots' page of its Glastonbury Festival webcam

Emily Eavis, the festival's co-organiser, and the official @glastonbury Twitter account have today liked several tweets showing similar pictures of a rocket flying over Glastonbury and Frome, two towns near Worthy Farm.

One tweet from Frome Photos said: "Anyone else see a light ahead in the distance over #Frome last night? Was flashing over the sky. Looked like a rocket or something??!"

Another from Glastonbury Rec asked: "Anyone out and about around Glastonbury last night? It was cold as hell, but I saw what looked like a spacecraft shooting across the sky?"

Sir Elton himself recently revealed on his Instagram story that he has "one final date to announce".

The 'Rocket Man' is currently on his Farewell tour, with shows planned in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

Glastonbury 2023 starts on Wednesday, June 21 and runs until Sunday, June 25.

Billie Eilish was the first artist confirmed for Glastonbury 2022.

The festival confirmed her place on the Pyramid Stage on October 4, making some festival fans think 2023's first announcement is imminent.
