Legendary folk-rock band Steeleye Span will perform at Cheese and Grain, Frome on December 12 as part of their 50th anniversary UK tour.

Acclaimed for revolutionising the folk-rock genre, the band have celebrated five decades with the release of their new album - the Green Man Collection.

The album pulls together tracks from their recent works, adding fresh spins on three classics.

It features work from the 70s talent, Bob Johnson, including the track "The Green Man", addressing climate change before it made headlines.

The band's new member, Athena Octavia, will join them on their tour.

Mr Octavia is an esteemed violinist and member of the indie folk band, Iris & Steel.

Doors to the Frome gig at The Cheese and Lane open at 7:30pm with tickets priced at £34.50/£29.00.

The concert will see a variety of songs from both recent and golden age albums.

Steeleye Span created abuzz during the early 70s, establishing themselves as a major creative energy with releases such as Hark The Village Wait and Ten Man Mop.

They continued their creative journey, collaborating in Wintersmith with Sir Terry Pratchett in 2013 and releasing Dodgy B****ards in 2016.

Steeleye Span opened the celebration tour in Doncaster on November 8, before scheduled dates in Great Yarnmouth, Sheffield, Crewe, Portsmouth, Bristol and more.

The tour will end with a gig in Cadogan Hall in London on December 18.
