EVERYONE is invited - no matter how old - to Age UK Somerset’s carol service at Wells Cathedral on Wednesday, December 13, at 11am.

The event will be not only a celebration of Christmas but also the charity’s 75th anniversary.

There will be performances from the 35-strong Taunton Deane Male Voice Choir and the debut public performance of the charity’s own volunteer Choir of Agels.

In addition there will be traditional readings and some of the most popular carols to get people into the festive spirit.

No tickets are necessary. Everyone will be warmly welcomed and can just turn up on the day.

This is a free event but the charity wants payment in loud voices, regardless of whether they are in tune or not. There will also be a coin collection for the charity.

A spokesperson for the sponsors, Somerset Care, said: "We are delighted to support Age UK Somerset's 75th anniversary carol service, which promises to bring the joy of Christmas and the warmth of togetherness to all who attend.

"As a not-for-profit care provider committed to supporting people to live the life they choose, we know how important it is for people to feel part of the community in which they live, and the huge benefits of singing on health and wellbeing.

"Along with our residents and customers, we're really looking forward to raising the roof of Wells Cathedral in festive song, and lifting our spirits in the process."
