ROCK legends Status Quo will play in Taunton this summer as part of the Live in Somerset bank holiday concerts.

The band, which formed in 1962, will return to Vivary Park this August as confirmed by the organisers this morning (Friday, February 16).

Live in Somerset announced the news on social media: “The British rock legends are returning to Vivary Park on Friday, August 23, completing the bank holiday weekend of concerts for 2024.

“Tickets for Status Quo go on sale Friday, February 23 at 9am.”

Status Quo are Francis Rossi, Andy Bown, John Edwards, Leon Cave, and Richie Malone.

Their hits include ‘Whatever You Want’ and ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’ among many others - they have had over 60 chart hits in the UK.

Overall, Status Quo have released over 100 singles and 33 albums, their latest ‘Backbone’ being released in 2019.

This has led to them spending more than seven and a half years in the British Singles Chart – the 11th highest ever.

Not to mention the 48 albums that reached the Top 75 in the British Albums Chart - more than any other band bar The Rolling Stones.

Status Quo will be joined by special guests at Live in Somerset 2024, making it a show not to be missed.

Claire Kidger, Director of LCC Live said: “We’re delighted to be able to welcome back Status Quo after their sold out show at Live in Somerset back in 2016.

"They’re great performers with such an iconic catalogue of great hit songs, everyone will be sure to dance and sing along. We can’t wait.”

Tickets for Status Quo go on sale at 9am next Friday (23rd February 2024) from www.ticketline.co.uk, as well as in person from Taunton’s Visitor Centre on Fore Street, Taunton.

Pop-punk band Busted will play Taunton too as part of the same event.

The trio will be joined by special guests to perform in Vivary Park on bank holiday Monday, August 26.

Musicians Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and James Bourne rose to fame as Busted with the release of their debut single What I Go To School For in 2002.

The band then went on to release a number of hit singles such as Crashed The Wedding, Year 3000, Air Hostess and You Said No.

Ministry of Sound Classical also announced they will be coming to the county town to play during the bank holiday weekend.

Last year, pop queen Sophie Ellis-Bextor joined the line-up at Live in Somerset in Vivary Park on Saturday, August 26.

The organisers made the announcement after headliners The Proclaimers puled out earlier this week.
