Danesfield School in Williton hosted sold out crowds for their production of Shrek the Musical Jr earlier this month.

On March 5, 6 and 7, Danesfield performed their fabulous production of Shrek the Musical Jr, with brilliant performances all around.

Head of Performing Arts at the school, Miss Attwood, said: “I am so impressed with the hard work of our students this year. Many of our principal cast are new to the stage but have not been afraid to give to create these iconic characters.”

Despite having multiple first-time thespians, the actors and actresses were praised for their confidence and courage to step on the stage.

Director and Choreographer, Mr Pearce, said: “As soon as we saw that Shrek was available, we knew the music and characters would suit the students we have and despite their relative inexperience of performance in front of an audience, we’re so proud of the standard they’ve achieved. Hopefully we’ll see them back on-stage next year too”.

The performers had plenty of praise for the creative minds behind the show, Year 8 pupil Tamzin thanked Mr Pearce and Miss Attwood. She said: “They brought to life the fun and upbeat nature of Shrek the musical and that really helped to make the show enjoyable to everyone watching and performing. We could not have done the show without the leads who were David as Shrek, Tilly as Princess Fiona and Hudson as Donkey. My favourite part of the show was when we were all on the stage doing the Finale, bows and singing I’m Believer.”

The Performing Arts Department extend their thanks to all the staff, governors and parents for their ongoing help and support with the show.

We can’t wait to see the spectacle they provide to us in the next show!
