THE Prince of Wales and Prince George have been spotted enjoying a father-son night out at the football watching Aston Villa in the first leg of the Europa Conference League quarter-final.

Prince William and his son's trip to watch Aston Villa on Thursday (April 11) night was the first public outing for the pair since the Princess of Wales - Princess Kate - announced she had cancer.

Aston Villa were taking on French team Lille in the first leg of the Europa Conference League quarter-final, eventually running out winners 2-1.

Prince William and Prince George enjoy father-son outing at Aston Villa match

Prince William was seen smiling and applauding in the Villa Park stands in Birmingham with his eldest son on Thursday evening.

George sported an Aston Villa scarf as the pair celebrated the club’s 2-1 win against Lille.

William was seen turning to his son to say something as he applauded Ollie Watkins’ opening goal for the club.

Fans of the Royal family took to social media to express their happiness at seeing William and George out and about. 

One person posting a photo of the pair at the Aston Villa match on X (formerly Twitter) said: "Wow look who's out and about today. It's our two marvelous future Kings watching a football match this evening."

While a second person commented: "They always look like they are having fun.

"With all the turmoil in the young princes life at the moment, it is lovely to see them doing something together and something they are both passionate about.

"It has to be a difficult time for them both."

Princess Kate reveals she's undergoing treatment for cancer

In March, Princess Kate, 42, revealed she is undergoing treatment for cancer in an emotional video message.

In the message revealing the diagnosis, she said: “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time.

“It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.

“But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.”

Princess Kate, Prince William and their three children, all missed the Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, following the announcement, despite attending last year.

The family spent the Easter holiday together as they adjusted to Kate’s diagnosis, which was discovered in post-operative tests after major abdominal surgery.

Since revealing the diagnosis, the Prince and Princess of Wales are said to be “enormously touched” and “extremely moved” by the public’s warmth and support.
