A MOTORIST is due to receive six points on their licence and a £200 fine after being spotted using a mobile phone whilst driving in Somerset.
Posting on X, formerly Twitter, a spokesperson from the ASPolice Roads Policing team said: "Officers out on proactive #Fatal5 patrols across @ASPolice spotted this driver using a mobile phone.
"Driver was stopped, issued a ticket for the offence & will be receiving 6 points & a 200 fine in due course.

Chief inspector Robert Cheeseman, Roads Policing lead at Avon and Somerset Police, said: “Committing any of the Fatal Five offences dramatically increases the likelihood of being involved in a fatal or serious injury collision.
“It is essential that we hammer the message home, through a consistent policy of education and enforcement, that dangerous and careless driving can and does result in tragedy."
