King’s College, Taunton, recently  enjoyed considerable success at the Rosslyn Park 7s, which is the largest school rugby tournament in the world, writes Richard Walsh.

King’s took four teams to compete in the London based event: Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 boys and Under 18 girls, who all gave a good account of themselves.

The Under 18 boys were particularly successful and not only won their group but also their knock-out eliminator where they beat Sevenoaks to qualify for the second day.

The stand-out player for King’s Under 18 boys was Mudia Eribo who scored 12 tries over the course of the two days, the most by anyone in the tournament so quite an impressive achievement.

Ed Lewsey, Head of Rugby said: “This was a great experience for all of the players who were involved and it was especially pleasing to see our Under 18 boys doing so well.”

King’s College are holding a Comedy Night on Saturday 4th May to raise funds for their forthcoming rugby tour to South Africa this coming summer.

Part of the money raised on the night, however, will be donated to the Barnaby Webber foundation.

The Head of Rugby said: “Everyone was shocked and appalled by the terrible events in Nottingham and our players wanted to show their support and solidarity by donating some of the proceeds from our comedy night toward Barnaby’s foundation.”

Featuring four top line comedians, tickets costing £20 each can be obtained at www.kings-taunton.co.uk/school-events/
