SOME excellent fishing was had at Hawkridge last week, with plenty of fish showing on the surface all over the lake, and anglers averaging 3.4 fish per rod.

Some nice fish were caught including a 4lb Brown Trout (Paul Prictor) and a 4lb 8oz Blue Trout (Peter Rees).

Nigel Rabbitts had the heaviest bag limit weighing 19lb 5oz which included a 4lb 12oz Rainbow.

S McCormack had a five fish limit weighing 16lb 12oz and G Williams had a bag limit totalling 16lb 8oz.

Fishing the shallows from boats is highly recommended. Anglers who fish floating lines with Diawl Bach, Damsel, Daddy’s or Blobs return with good catches. CLATWORTHY also enjoyed a good week with 207 fish caught at a rod average of two.

Best bags of the week were taken by Mr D Parker, his five fish weighing 16lb 2oz.

Mr D Grabham had five fish weighing 15lb 10oz while the best four fish limit was caught by Mr C Woolfenden. His bag weighed 14lb 3oz.

Main tactics were a mixture of intermediates and floating lines with lots of surface activity.

The best flies were Blue Flash Damsels along with Crunchers, Small Nymphs and Buzzers.

The best areas to fish were the dam and through the middle of the lake drifting with the slight breeze. Also Rowes End and the bay have fish still showing.
