TAUNTON Town lock horns with Merthyr Town for the second successive Saturday when they meet at the Viridor Stadium in the Preliminary Round of the FA Trophy tomorrow (3pm). After the Welsh club came out on top in the Southern League last weekend, the Peacocks will be hoping for a reversal of fortune especially with £2,500 prize money for the winners and a home tie against Cirencester Town in the next round.
Unfortunately Town’s squad will again be depleted, with Steve Kingdon and Rodney Marsh still on the injured list, and Rob Norrish likely to be out for several months as he requires a cartilage operation.
Jamie Short also misses the tie as he sits out the first game of his three match ban imposed for his recent dismissal at AFC Totton.
Ben Mammola and Josh Wadham who were unavailable for the first game with Merthyr are back in the squad this weekend.
Taunton Under 18s went down 4-0 to a strong Gloucester City side in the FA Youth Cup last Wednesday.
The Peacocks, who were due to play a friendly at Willand Rovers U18s yesterday evening, are not in competitive action again until next Thursday (October 23) when they play Wellington in the second round of the Roger Stone Memorial Cup at the Viridor Stadium.
n THERE will be a Fans Forum after the Merthyr game in the boardroom beginning at 5.45pm when supporters can quiz manager Leigh Robinson and chairman Kevin Sturmey.
