TWO new radical ways to play hockey are being championed at the Castle Sports Centre to encourage more young people to take up the game.
Quicksticks Hockey is a fun, safe and exciting version of the game, especially designed to introduce young people to the sport.
Using a larger, lighter and safer ball, Quicksticks provides a developmental approach that allows children and young adults to progress in the game.
Two sessions of Quicksticks Hockey will be held at the centre on Friday evenings from November 7 for boys and girls aged between eight and 11 and for disabled players aged 14 and above. Rush Hockey is a fast and furious version of the sport. It can be played indoors or outside and it is a five-a-side game which is played on smaller pitches.
It is designed to fit in with a busy lifestyle and for people who enjoy the rush and excitement of a team sport but don’t always have the time to commit to one. Friday evening sessions which launch from November 7 will be aimed at men and women over 15.
