JAMIE Edwards added to his glittering medal collection by bagging bronze at the Senior England Athletics Championships in Bedford.
The 16-year-old, who has just finished studying at The Castle School, Taunton, finished third in the 100m wheelchair racing event.
It was a remarkable achievement given that Edwards, who has cerebral palsy, was the only junior wheelchair racer at the event – where he also got a PB of 18.02, now ranking him third in the UK in his T33 classification.
Meanwhile Edwards has also joined the prestigious Weir Archer Academy – headed up by six-time Paralympic gold medallist David Weir CBE and his long term coach Jenny Archer MBE.
This will mean Edwards will travel to Kingston upon Thames once a month, although will still receive training from Jen Slade from Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership – who introduced him to the sport two years ago.
Next month Edwards will again be representing the South West in the 100m and 800m at the Sainsbury's School Games.
