Minehead 0 Uphill Castle 2
THOUGH Minehead seemed to start the game well they soon allowed Uphill Castle to start dictating play and Dan Thomas shot just over the bar after a good break had cut through the centre of the home defence, writes Brian Walder.
Half way through the first half Beau Clancy-Winter replaced a hobbling Callum Barnfield and shortly afterwards Guy Burns’ lob went high over the bar after being put through by a perfect Stefan Phillips pass. Minehead began to become disjointed as the visitors started to make inroads. Two fines saves within a few seconds rescued his team-mates, the first being a remarkable block.
Towards the end of the first half the visitors should have taken the lead but defender Toby Yeates volleyed over when well placed.
Two goals in nine minutes early in the second half from Will Sneddon Coombes and captain Jack Haskins put the visitors well in control and with Minehead did not look like getting back on terms.
Two more exceptional saves from Wilkins, combined with two efforts that came back of the woodwork meant the score remained respectable, but did nothing to help Minehead’s promotion hopes.
