Bude 22-12 Wiveliscombe

Wiveliscombe made their first ever visit to Bude for a league fixture and came away empty handed.

The West somerset team have been disrupted by injuries over the last few weeks and the continuity has suffered accordingly. 

Bude, though lying near the bottom of table have not been an easy team to beat on thier own ground but Wiveliscombe had opportunities to add to thier score on several occasions but failed to do so.

Bude took an 12pts 0pts lead in the first quarter scoring two tries with one conversion , Wiveliscombe crossed for thier first points of the match with a try from winger Sam Gibbs on thirty minutes. 12pts 5pts. 

The hometeam crossed for thier third try just before half time to give them a twelve point lead and Wivey needed to find some of thier early season form. HT 17pts 5pts.

The visitors to their credit had the edge in the second half and out scored thier hosts by seven points to five. Sam Gibbs crossed for his second try which was converted by flyhalf Dan Quick. 17pts 12pts.

Wiveliscombe have secured loosing bonus points in thier last two league matches and a third looked on the cards for this game but a late try from Bude gave the hometeam the bonus point victory. 22pts 12Ppts. 

Next week, 19th November is a free Saturday with no rugby for the SW leagues. Wiveliscombes next fixture is against Plymstock at home on the 26th November. The 2ndXV play Morganians at Bridgwater. 

On Sunday November 27th Wiveliscombe RFC will be celebrating their 150th anniversary with an Exhibition match against Taunton School who were Wiveys first ever apponants in 1872.

The game will be preceeded by a lunch for past captains and officials linked to both teams.
