Topsham 45-13 Wiveliscombe

Wiveliscombe traveled to Exeter knowing Topsham were having an excellent season lying in second position in the Western Counties West league and yet to lose at home this season.

Wiveliscombe are one of only two sides to defeat Topsham in the second game of the season, 20pts 18pts. 

The home side soon made their intentions clear playing fast open rugby with thier support play impressive.

Back row forward Dan Mather scored Topshams first try converted by scrum half Thomas Oxland who was a thorn in Wiveys side all afternoon. 

The home team continued to break through the Wiveliscombe defence who found it difficult to cover the hometeams attack.

Topsham crossed Wiveliscombes try line five more times in the first half with tries from Dan Mather his second, Alex Rosser, Robin Edbrook who had an outstanding game, centre Henry Batty and Centre Declan Hadley.

Tom Oxland converted three with Robin Ed Brook adding two conversions to give Topsham a 40pts 3pts lead at half time. 

Wiveliscombe supporters were expecting the worse outcome in the second half but to their credit Wiveliscombe raised their game to another level and ended up outscoring thier hosts two tries to one.

Wes Keywood scored Topshams second half try with George Rowe and Richard Baker crossing for Wiveys second half tries to add to Dan Quicks first half penalty.

Wivey dropped two places to sixth in the Western Counties league after this defeat.
