Wiveliscombe 29-22 Bude

WIVELISCOMBE secured their fourth victory in as many weeks but had to work hard to secure the bonus point win which lifts them to fifth position in the Western Counties West league. 

The visitors were first on the score board after gaining good territory close to Wiveys try line playing down the slope.

Wiveliscombe's first try of the game was scored by Winger Jake Sharland after his fellow backs had created enough room along the top touchline for him to out pace Budes defence, The conversion was missed, 5pts 7pts.

Wiveliscombe had their moments in the first half but were frequently stopped from finishing promising positions because of handling errors which they needed to overcome. 

To their credit they finished the first half well and leveled the scores by half time.

Their forwards created pressure near the visitors tryline and after several attempts to drive the Bude pack over thier line Wivey were awarded a penalty try.

Wiveliscombe's scrum half Richard Baker had threatened to breach Budes defence on several occasions in first half and an opportunity developed just before half time which he duly took breaking down the blind side to score Wiveys third try to level the scores. 

Playing down the slope in the second half Wivey were looking to put their visitors under increasing pressure but Bude continued to have a good share of play.

Wiveliscombe took the lead for the first time in the match through skipper Frank Norman who scored the fourth bonus point try after being driven over by his fellow forwards.

Bude replied with their fourth bonus point try and spectators were on edge hoping the home team could hold on for the win and this they did after Centre William Thorne crossed for Wiveys fifth try to secure the win.
